Experience the taste of the lower Dalälven
In the Nedre Dalälv area, we want to highlight the importance of shopping and eating locally from our local producers in the area to both visitors and residents, and for more people to choose restaurants and cafés that have local products and ingredients on the menu.
About the project
Nedre Dalälven is distinguished by its high natural values, rich cultural environments and small-scale tourism operators. Many people want to visit the area and the tourism industry has the potential to develop into an important part of the local economy.
With this project, we want to coordinate this development in a sustainable direction within one of Nedre Dalälven's four focus areas; Sustainable tourism and outdoor life. The focus area is about protecting our viable businesses, local communities and nature while we live from it, now and in the future. In the project, we want to strengthen the competitiveness of our food and beverage players and ensure that they live up to the expectations that society and our visitors have for sustainability work.
Purpose with the project is to strengthen our local food and beverage actors in the area in the long term. We want more visitors and residents to find them, that visitors and residents prioritize shopping at our local farm shops and food halls and choose to eat at the restaurants and cafes that have local ingredients on the menu and collaborate with the producers in the local area.
By food and beverage actors, this project means producers who grow or process as well as sales channels such as restaurants, cafes, farm shops, and food halls.
Long-term goals, the target group for the project has developed a network and increased their collaboration. The restaurants and cafes will be stronger and more competitive as their cooperation with the producers has made them less sensitive to shortages of products and raw materials from other parts of the country or those that are imported.
The producers who grow or process and participate in the project will also be more competitive, have gained new customers, and better meet the demand for local ingredients and products available to businesses, visitors, and residents..
Activities in the project
The summer campaign “Locally on the plate”,an activity where we connect restaurants and cafes that want to expand the local supply of ingredients in their menus with sought-after and interested producers who grow or process in the Lower Dalälven and in the local area. Each participating restaurant will offer a dish during the campaign period that consists almost entirely of local ingredients from the local area.
Competence-enhancing measures, courses, lectures, and workshops on, among other things, sustainable outdoor cooking, getting started with their sustainability work and how to communicate it, business development, and more.
Study trips, an opportunity for participating food and beverage actors in the area to visit each other for the exchange of experience and to gain inspiration and new partners.
Communication, communicate participating actors in the various activities on our websites and social media as well as with our partners.

”The increased awareness of each other
and each other's products means that they promote and recommend each other to visitors and residents in the area and makes the entire destination feel more interesting to live in and visit.”
