Brick Valley 2.0

About the project

The project will further develop Tegelvallen in Heby into a vibrant meeting place for sports, health, and community. After the extensive flooding in 2023, work is underway to restore the sports facility. Through the project, the association aims to create new opportunities for activities and social interaction for people of all ages.

A new gathering place with a kiosk will be built, and the outdoor environment will be developed with, among other things, outdoor gym, playground, pétanque court, bike skills course, and upgraded skateboard ramp. The initiative will make Tegelvallen a natural meeting place for both spontaneous activities and organized events, training sessions, and sports competitions. The project will also strengthen the association's activities, the local community, and the tourism industry in Heby.

Purpose The aim of the project is to develop Tegelvallen into a safe and inclusive meeting place that promotes health, movement, and community for people of all ages. Through more activities and opportunities for social interaction, the association wants to contribute to meaningful leisure time, reduce loneliness and exclusion, and increase safety in the area. The project will also strengthen cooperation with the local business community and create conditions for new activities and services within health and sports.

The background to the project
Heby General Sports Association (HAIF) has been an important part of the association life in Heby since 1912. The association conducts activities in seven different sports and is based at Tegelvallen, where hundreds of children, youth, and adults are active every week.

In September 2023, Tegelvallen was hit by extensive flooding that caused significant damage to buildings, sports areas, and outdoor environments. Through collaboration with the municipality, insurance companies, and local businesses, a comprehensive reconstruction effort has begun.

Even before the flooding, there were plans to develop Tegelvallen. In connection with the reconstruction, the association now wants to take the opportunity to create a more accessible and attractive meeting place for the entire community. The need for places for spontaneous sports, play, and social interaction is great, while developed facilities and outdoor environments can create new opportunities for events, training camps, and collaborations.
