About the project

The project is expected to lead to increased attractiveness for the region and a positive development of the tourism industry and outdoor recreation. The project has good prospects to contribute to both new and preserved livelihood opportunities as well as increased entrepreneurship.

Purpose The aim of the project is to anchor the way forward for the area through dialogue and collaboration with local residents, entrepreneurs, the municipality, the county administrative board and the region. New types of accommodation for visitors and new activities that increase accessibility to nature, culture and experiences in the fire area will be developed. More entrepreneurs who are active in the tourism industry with services and activities will be added and investments in infrastructure for the tourism industry, accommodation and marketing will be made. Development in the area will be focused on ecotourism.

The goal The project includes a developed and coherent hiking trail through the fire area and an expanded bike trail. Kick-off meetings, collaboration meetings, working group meetings, and inspiration and training meetings have been held. Documentary about the fire, new website, and trail and activity map. Wind shelter and parking spaces.
   
The activities in the project are: Start-up and operation of the project, which includes forming a steering and reference group, appointing a project manager, ongoing administration and evaluation; Dialogue and collaboration, which includes kick-off meetings, dialogue and collaboration meetings; New accommodations, which includes information, planning and construction of windbreaks and camping sites; New activities and entrepreneurs, which includes inspiration meetings and forming a working group; Infrastructure, which includes forming a working group, developing an existing hiking trail, implementing solutions for a cohesive hiking trail, an expanded cycling trail with connections and drawing up agreements; Information and marketing, which includes forming a working group, producing a documentary, website and map; Education and development of ecotourism with inspiration and training meetings.
