New and old canoe trail in Tämnarån
About the project
The project is expected to lead to increased attractiveness for the countryside and a positive development of the tourism industry and outdoor life. The project has good conditions to contribute to both new and preserved livelihood opportunities as well as increased entrepreneurship.
Purpose with the project and the investment is to create jobs and thereby benefit and strengthen local actors and entrepreneurs, to preserve culture and older traditions by offering experiences and documentation in the form of writing, images, and film as well as to be knowledge-building and increase awareness of our welfare's construction through our ancestors' work.
The goal with the project and the investment is to create newly created jobs for locally engaged entrepreneurs, reconstruct a mountain pasture with an erected house and living activities with annually recurring activities at Svarthäll's mountain pasture, produce two printed books, a documentary film, and a log boat. One book describes daily mountain pasture life over a year in Östa and Nora during the 1860s, while the other is about Henrik Johansson, a local lumberjack, ornithologist, and artist who documented nature, birds, and wildlife over 40 years. The documentary film shows how it was done at the pasture when it was in operation with local actors, authentic clothing, and equipment.
The activities in the project consists of reconstructing a mountain pasture, clearing paths, and preparing for meadow mowing, following up on how the flora changes during the project period, manufacturing a log boat, timbering a mountain pasture cabin on the old foundation similar to the one that was placed there in 1823, finishing and printing a book that describes daily mountain pasture life over a year in Östa and Nora during the 1860s, printing a book about Henrik Johansson, making a documentary film that shows how it was done at the pasture when it was in operation with local actors, authentic clothing, and equipment, conducting an inventory and compiling documentation about mountain pastures in Lower Dalälven and marketing the project through newspaper ads, posters, and brochures with information in Swedish and English.
