The wellness center in Gårdskär

The project has completed a renovation and accessibility adaptation of the health center in Gårdskär.

About the project

The aim was to develop and renew the health club, which is part of the common gathering place Slåttervallen in Gårdskär. The project is run by Gårdskär Gymnastics and Sports Association and has meant that the gym in the health club has been renovated, modernized and adapted for accessibility.

With support from Leader Nedre Dalälven, the gym in Gårdskär has undergone extensive renovation, an investment that has significantly changed both the business and life in the village.

Thanks to the grant, the club has been able to replace much of the worn and aging equipment with new, modern training equipment. The premises have been opened up by demolishing interior walls, creating a brighter, more spacious and functional training environment. In addition, a new, secure and user-friendly locking system has been installed, making the gym more accessible to members.

The results of the investment are clear. Interest in the gym has increased significantly and the number of members has more than tripled, from 30 to 103 active members. What was previously a small training facility has now developed into a lively meeting place where people of different ages gather, train and socialize. The gym has become a natural part of everyday life in Gårdskär and today plays an important role in both health and community in the area.

”Relatively small interventions can make a big difference to both health and cohesion in smaller communities.”
