From köping to kärna

About the project

The project has good conditions to contribute to the survival of existing stores and the opening of new ones through increased collaboration and concretized visions. A vibrant central location with an expanded range is expected to lead to positive development and increased attractiveness for the entire municipality.

Purpose The aim of the project is to develop Tierp's köping into an attractive rural kärna. Stores, service companies, property owners, the municipality, non-profit organizations, and the local population will collaborate to make Tierp a lively, attractive, and modern meeting and trading place. By compiling wishes and visions from surveys, workshops, meetings, and discussions, a basis will be developed to form the foundation for the municipality's upcoming center plan. Efforts will be made to retain the stores that currently exist in the center today, but also to create more and thereby also more job opportunities. The project is focused on Tierp's central location but is expected to create ”ripples in the water” for the entire municipality in various ways.

The goal The project has conducted meetings and workshops as well as a survey to gather the opinions of residents and existing business owners regarding what constitutes an attractive rural kärna and what is needed to create this. Meetings have been held with all relevant property owners in the center. A compiled basis with proposals for the municipality's center plan.

The activities The project includes: Hiring a project manager; Involvement of an employee from Tierp municipality for administrative tasks and documentation; Mapping residents' needs through surveys and conversations; Creating a reference group with representatives from property owners, business owners, the municipality, associations, and residents; Conducting workshops; Individual meetings with municipal and private property owners; Actively participating in the design of the new center plan.
