Cult trips 2.0

The project covers the entire Leader area. That is, the seven municipalities of Säter, Hedemora Avesta, Sala, Heby, Tierp and
Älvkarleby and the parishes Österfärnebo in Sandviken municipality and Hedesunda in Gävle municipality. In addition
In the Leader area, the nine international areas in Europe will also benefit from the project.

About the project

The project is based on the European Slow Trips collaboration, where Nedre Dalälven is included as one of the nine areas in Europe. Travelers' needs change over time, and today people increasingly want to experience travel rather than just being on vacation or leave. The Slow Trips concept has been developed as a new approach to this, where small-scale, sustainable and quality-assured experiences are marketed, where visitors are active participants.

Nedre Dalälven is a biosphere reserve, and by continuing to develop the Slow Trips concept regionally, more stakeholders can be involved in promoting small-scale and sustainable tourism throughout the area. In the long term, these stakeholders will act as ambassadors for the biosphere reserve as a model for sustainable tourism.

We will continue with skills development for the existing actors involved in the ”Cult Trips 2.0” project. They will strengthen their presence in digital channels and become visible in booking systems. In addition, we will contribute to the establishment of several new Slow Trips actors in the area. This is done partly to broaden the range of offerings and give more people the opportunity to benefit from the Slow Trips concept, but also to create clusters where different actors can collaborate and benefit each other. We will also continue to develop the dialogue in transnational cooperation, which is an important part of
strengthen the development of local actors.

In Älvkarleby municipality lies Gårdskär fishing port, a charming, beautiful and peaceful place where development work for the fishing port is in full swing.

Purpose is to contribute to sustainable and quality-oriented rural tourism by offering innovative and engaging experiences.

The goal with the project is, the project should have contributed to at least 7 new actors putting bookable Slow Trips experiences online.

The project should have contributed to the addition of at least 12 new bookable Slow Trips products from existing and new Slow Trips players.

The project should have contributed to creating at least three clusters of Slow Trips actors.

The project is said to have organized a major international study trip for other regions within the Slow Trips network to visit Nedre Dalälven.

The project is expected to have participated in three international meetings, together with involved Slow Trips actors from the Leader area, and gone on study trips to three other regions in Europe.

All participating actors in the project have increased their visibility in digital channels, such as social media, their own websites, booking systems, and on the international website SlowTrips.eu and the regional website nedredalven.se.

All participating actors have a good understanding of the Slow Trips concept and the branding document that underpins the concept.

The activities in the project are project management, travel by own car or municipal car, accommodation, marketing, international collaboration, local collaboration and skills development. See activity template for a more detailed description.

Cult Trips 2.0

Slow Trips – sustainable tourism industry

”In the long term, participating actors will have established their existing Slow Trips products and increased their revenues. They will have a good supply of skills through the international networks they are part of, and together they will have contributed to a more attractive and long-term sustainable region.

The biosphere reserve now serves as a model area for sustainable tourism and serves as a role model for others. A number of new players will have shown interest in Slow Trips on their own and have had their products approved for marketing.”
