Boat for outdoor experiences and transport to accommodation on islands
Kustvy currently operates a business with accommodations by the seaside, parking spaces, and camping.
About the project
During spring and autumn, mainly weekdays, we see a demand from corporate groups where they request accommodation, conference opportunities, and in combination with this, an activity for the group. Currently, we have good accommodations, a venue for conferences, and good collaboration with local raw material producers, but it is difficult to offer good activities. Here we see that the boat would create good conditions for developing this and expanding collaboration with the raw material producers. By
complementing the company with the boat, it enables activities for both conferences and our private guests, leading to higher occupancy in the accommodations during the part of the year where we currently have lower occupancy.
Going out to sea, to an island, and cooking is another activity that would become possible, and this in combination with a higher occupancy rate in our accommodations would benefit the local raw material producers we currently collaborate with regarding, for example, breakfast for our accommodations.
Collaboration with local guides who possess different types of expertise can occur during these tours, and we also see opportunities for other operators conducting business with accommodations in the area to increase their occupancy rate by offering their guests our activities through collaborations and packages.
In Älvkarleby municipality lies Gårdskär fishing port, a charming, beautiful and peaceful place where development work for the fishing port is in full swing.
Purpose The project is to purchase a boat to complement the business and become a sustainable destination year-round.
The goal The project is, the boat should be purchased, equipped, and registered according to the requirements of the Swedish Maritime Administration. Kustvy will offer boat-related activities for both private guests and companies. The company shall employ at least 1 person full-time year-round.
The activities In the project, purchase the boat and have it approved and equipped according to the requirements of the Swedish Maritime Administration by October 1, 2023.
”Harbor Day” will take place during the summer of 2024. This is one of the two activities we have planned to be carried out if we receive this project support. Through our already established contacts, we invite actors such as:
The Coast Guard, the Sea Rescue Society, the Swedish Maritime Administration, the Naval Reserve, the Parish Council, the Association of Swedish Combat Boats, the Local Heritage Association, etc., to showcase their activities and offer rides for those who have the opportunities. They can all dock at our pier in the harbor. In addition, we also think that the local raw material suppliers such as Larsbo Lantgård, Stora Kullens gård, Lars-Ivan Hållstrand, among others, will set up a market around the harbor to sell their products. In addition to the products these actors can sell, we also want to complement with a food truck that sells food and snacks to the guests. During this day, we will have our boat in the harbor and offer trial tours in the nearby area for the guests, some fishing and snacks during the tour. Since we already have good contact with many of these actors, we see this as a clear, realistic, fun, and feasible project.

”The long-term goal of this project is that we will be an economically and socially sustainable destination all year round
which primarily means that the business will support two full-time positions year-round within two years.
In addition to the full-time positions, the company will need part-time employees for a large part of the year. Our goal is also to be an actor that creates opportunities for local producers to sell their products at our facility. Through good collaborations, we will offer our visitors breakfast, lunch, coffee, and dinner packages from these local producers.”
